nbc 10 news starts now. all is quiet and clear outside right now. just in time for the start of spring comes the threat of one last blast, hopefully, of winter. new information about a case of high school hazing in chester county. conestoga high school says there are more staffing changes to report. enough practice, it is time to play. today is the day that villanova, temple and st. joe's basketball team face their first challenges in the ncaa tournament. looking forward to that. good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm katy zachry. 4:31 on your friday. let's get right to meteorologist sheena parveen with her first alert forecast. >> hopefully sunday is the last snowfall but we can never really say that, can we? at least for now, i'll show you that in just a second. right now, temperatures are colder in some spots, 36 right now in allentown. 37 in millville.

look. let's get a check on the roads this morning with jessica boyington. >> we're watching the lehigh valley around 78 at lehigh street. not a lot of cars in the area. everything moving along just fine. we have a problem in northeast philadelphia, an accident closing the outer lanes on the boulevard southbound right around c street. again, those lanes are closed right now in the outer lanes due to that accident. another accident in lower salford on harleysville pike and montgomery drive. 4:33. happening today, three former religious leaders charged with pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane announced the grand jury's findings on tuesday. the men were part of the franciscan fry years. they're accused of allowing brother steven baker to molest more than 100 children while working at bishop mccort high

school. baker took his own life in 2013. we have an update on a school hazing investigation in chester county. the head coach of conestoga high school has resigned. now, also the school relieved the entire staff and varsity and jv -- the varsity and vj football teams, the sta!f there, their coaching response billions through next year. this comes less than two weeks after the district attorney filed charges against three players accused of sexually assaulting a freshman with a broom stick in the locker room. authorities have charged a young mother with killing her own infant daughter. gloucester county prosecutors charged 19-year-old jade fanz with murder. they accused the franklin township woman of strangling her newborn and dumping her baby last month. there's no shortage of opinion about lesean mccoy and his alleged involvement in a nightclub brawl in philadelphia. he is being investigated in an

assault on two off-duty police officers last month. the district attorney has not filed charges. this was mayor jim kenney yesterday on the subject. >> i'm not the district attorney. i'm not a law enforcement person. i certainly expressed my opinion from the beginning. from what i saw in the video, justice sometimes takes its course, takes it's time. i'm confident that seth williams and his folks will do the right thing. >> lesean mccoy now plays for the buffalo bills. he reportedly told investigators that the nightclub incident was not his fault. tournament time is finally here. our area is well represented at the ncaa tournament. the temple, st. joe's and villanova teams will all play today, games so many of you are anticipating. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in center city with a preview for us. matt, a fun day, right? >> a fun day, katy. all big five teams, all three of them that you just mentioned are playing today. st. joe's, temple, villanova, and take a look at some of the practice sessions that we caught up with them yesterday.

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> good friday morning. some areas are waking up in the 30s this morning. so you'll probably need a jacket before you step outside. 36 degrees in allentown. 51 in philadelphia. big temperature difference there. 37 in millville. 52 wildwood, 40 in pottstown, 46 in reading. temperatures will be very nice this afternoon. a nice friday for you. staying mostly dry. clear skies this morning. for the bus stop, by 7:00 a.m., north and west through the lehigh valley, you'll be in the 30s, upper 30s. philadelphia area mostly in the mid-40s by 7:00 a.m. new jersey and delaware mid-40s. by 2:00 p.m., partly cloudy,

could this center city fixture have a new name in the coming years? you're looking live at the aramark building which has been part of the philadelphia skyline for nearly three decades. aramark is considering moving its headquarters. the lease on the market street building expires in 2018. a company spokesperson told the philadelphia business journal several options are being considered, including a move to the navy yard. or across the river to camden. aramark is the fifth largest public company in the region. addiction to heroin and opioids are at epidemic levels here in our region. people who want help find it difficult to find the right treatment. vai sikahema joins us with the story of a local man who battles addiction and now wants to bring the support he had to others who are suffering. >> reporter: rock bottom came for devin reeves when he woke up in presbyterian hospital's emergency room eight years ago. reeves was addicted to heroin

and cocaine, nearly died of an ç overdose. that was his wakeup call. in 2013 reeves opened brother$2y love house. a recovering residence near la salle university, specially designed to help college age men get back on track after addiction. it doesn't get state money so residents pay their way. there aren't many recovery problems like it in philadelphia. and for young people who become addicted, reeves says finding support near home is key. >> i knew there were young men in our community that needed a house like this, just like i needed, right? i wanted to make it for them. right? i had to go down to florida to find something like this when i was in my active addiction in pennsylvania in the city of brotherly love. i didn't want other people to have to do that. i think there's great value to recovering in your commune. you're close to your parents, close to your family. i want other people to have the opportunity i didn't have. >> reeves and some of the men he's helped are among nearly 80 people nbc 10 met as part of our

bullied in school and online. it's designed to make people think about others and how they treat each other. 23 whales in three parks will be the last generation of orcas that sea world will display in captivity. those animals would not survive in the wild. they will live out their years in larger tanks in the company's park habitats. the company says the time is right for this change. >> society is changing. and if you look at people's general comfort level with orcas under human care, i've seen a real shift in society. >> this change follows criticism of sea world's practices after the release of the documentary black fish and the death of a trainer. sea world faced protests and declines in attendance and revenue. well, see you later alligator is not what a woman in florida wants to hear when it comes to he+ pet reptile.

mary thorn of lakeland, florida, is fighting to keep her pet gator, rambo. she rescued rambo as a baby 11 years ago. that's such a strange video. i'm sorry. and rambo clearly is no longer a baby. he's grown to 6 feet long, weighs 125 pounds. that has not stopped thorn from babying him. >> yes, he likes to dress. see this, he has my hair. that's because he doesn't want me to take him off my shoulder. >> thorn got a permit for rambo a few years back but state wildlife investigators say the gator is now too big to stay. we'll let you know what happens to rambo. i'm just going to toss this to jessica boyington. how are you going to follow that story? >> everyone likes a good snuggle, i'll start there. we're starting on the 42 freeway, over in deptford. i'm still shaking my head about that one. headed northbound into

philadelphia, no problems so far. all the area bridges are doing okay as well. a northbound drive time from 55 to the walt whitman bridge, a five--minute trip. no problems headed southbound. at the shore, northeast philadelphia, still watching the accident on the roosevelt boulevard, closing it southbound around c street in the outer lanes. watch out for police activity there. update in lower salford, this accident is clear in harleysville pike and montgomery drive. mass transit also doing just fine with no delays. i'll be back in the 5:00 hour with another check on your morning drive. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> good friday morning. some of you are sitting with 30 degree temperatures in your area. you'll need a jacket this morning. we go into the weekend. all of us will be seeing temperatures much colder in the 30s for much of the area. then we're watching that winter storm that will be moving in. we have a winter storm for the first day of spring. we're going to call it a winter storm technically because it has

snow with it. we expect accumulating snow. i'll show you that in just a second. right now in philadelphia, clear skies 51 degrees right now. winds increasing as we go through the afternoon today. if you're in allentown, you're waking up to temperatures in the mid-30s. 40 degrees in pottstown, 46 in trenton. 50 in wilmington. 48 degrees glassboro and 37 in millville. we do have cold spots on the map but much colder as we go through tonight. now, today future weather showing very nice conditions. highs near 60 degrees for most of the area. then cold as we go into your sunday morning. temperatures will be in the mid-30s. katy's okay if case you heard that. i think she dropped something. she's fine. i promise. we'll figure out whatever you broke, katy. it will be cold going into saturday morning. look what happens as we go into sunday. sunday morning, temperatures at or below freezing north and west. this is snow that ill with be moving in. been telling you about, a bit of a mix possible in new jersey and delaware. as temperatures get colder as we

go through sunday night, this will be pretty much all day and all night with this thing as temperatures get colder, we city the snow moving into new jersey and delaware. we expect accumulations. now the lowest accumulations would be in new jersey and delaware. this is for a chance of 4 inches or more sunday into sunday night. low in new jersey and delaware because of the mixing we expect. a medium chance of that 4 inches or more through the philadelphia area. higher chance north and west through the lehigh valley. so the timing of it, we expect snow by noon, some models are trying to speed this up. by noon we should certainly be seeing snow falling. random mix likely in new jersey and delaware, accumulation more likely later in the day sunday. snow will melt at the start. as we get colder late sunday we see it stick to roads. for your monday morning drive, needless to say, icy spots and are area, especially north and west for your morning commute. for today, windy and warm, temperatures in the low 60s. a nice friday.

roads are still dry. we have an easy commute upon us, at least right now without all that volume out there. we will update you on the roosevelt boulevard when i come back in the 5:00 hour. jessica, thank you. from our jersey shore bureau, a mayor of one town is clarifying trof comments he made about orthodox jews. he said it's like an invasion in a recent real estate article. he insists he was referencing comments made openly from a council meeting last month. following numerous complaints about aggressive tactics by real estate agents. toms river lawmakers barred those agents from door-to-door sl soliciting. >> we're not invading. it's people moving in.

>> earlier this week the mayor of neighboring lake wood says he was appalled by the invasion and called on mthe mayor to apologize. he said apologize implies you made a mistake and he doesn't feel he made one. the east coast girls volleyball tournament, hundreds of teams will compete against the qualifier at the pennsylvania convention center. the tournament is expected to bring nearly $36 million in revenue into the city. atlantic city just locked down an agreement to have six concerts on the beach this sumi. ♪ sitting at the bar ♪ sipping on a regular coke >> you can't beat that. more than 100,000 people saw blake shelton on the beach in

2014. yesterday, the casino redevelopment authority approved a three-year, $6 million agreement with live nation to put on the next concerts. no word yet on who will take the stage. this is rather dubious honor of this hospital. a hospital in delaware county sent home a mom who was having minor con tracks saying she wasn't nearly ready to deliver. >> but when they got home, the baby, well, baby had other ideas. this newborn wasn't about to wait. when she went into the bathroom, her son jason was ready to be born. dad, joe, who's a marine corps veteran who received a purple heart in afghanistan sprang into action. >> i knew to put my hand under there and catch the baby. i can't believe i just delivered this baby. and how fast can an ambulance get here? >> soon after paramedics did arrive to find a healthy 6 pound baby boy. there he is. they helped dad cut the
